I am trying to do the Amityville house but when I try to do the 3rd floor like it looks different in this picture. add a roof the picture has it going through the 3rd floor. But I want to use rooms on the 3rd floor it is the attic after all. Also I want a roof going over the front of my front door like in this picture but I can't work how this will work in sims 4 thogh?

The image you shared is only a two story house with a gabled roof and you can add one tile rooms on the third floor or use the roof ornaments from the roof decoration section in the build buy catalogue.
What are 1 tile rooms?

@tigerrun777The roof over the door can be made by making a box or a small room in front of your door. Make sure you have enough distance to the edge of your lot. Make a ceiling and stack a roof on top of it. Then remove the walls. Do not use the hammer tool, but click the wall and select the option remove wall. That will do the trick.
