Solved

I am NOT happy with EA, and their STUPID automatic updates to the Sims 4.

So my Sims 4 game recently got an automatic update. The change it made is whatever. It didn't improve on game play at all in my view. There's more detail of the bills your sims get (like it lists what exactly they pay for now), and the inventory is different. I don't care about these changes either way.

Well NOW my game is BUGGED thanks to YOU, EA, or whoever the heck it is automatically updating everyone's game. It was working JUST FINE before these stupid updates I didn't even WANT or care about in the LEAST got FORCED on me!! Now my game, of a sim family I spent HOURS playing and developing, is not fricken working properly. I AM SO ANGRY!!

EA, if you're going to sit there and not give us, the players, a choice (and I don't even know who is responsible, you or Origin), then you BETTER work out the fricken BUGS first! If I had the option, I wouldn't have risked screwing up everything I worked hard on just so that certain aspects could be different that I don't even care about either way. But no. You made me fix something that wasn't broken, and have now left me a game that doesn't work right. Thanks for that.

The bug: This seems to happen only after I save the game and reload it. If my sims have a meal in the fridge, when I give the command to "get leftovers" the food doesn't disappear as they eat it. They also just sit there, eating it to infinity until I either do the cheat to reset the sim, or cancel the action. Their hunger motive is full, but they have NO meal moodlet, and the food is still on the plate. I can make them clean it up, but then they scrape food that shouldn't still be there into the garbage first. Once again, I'll reiterate, there's NO meal moodlet for the sim that ate the meal. So it's basically a command that never gets completed.

It may seem like a small thing, but it annoys the heck out of me, and is a DIRECT result of you making me update my game with bugged updates. I don't want to wait around with this problem for God knows how long while you guys get it together. This was YOUR problem that you've now made mine, and for WHAT? These updates didn't even make a difference to me.

Thanks for wrecking my darn game play experience. I, a customer who has spent QUITE a lot of my money on your product, am NOT a happy camper right now.

FIX this!

Maybe you should turn off automatic updates in Origin > Application Settings > Application > Client Update so you choose whether to update your game or not.

That doesn't work. It still FORCES me to install the update or won't let me play the game. NOW it's deleted an entire BASE GAME TOWN.

@yuk75 I suspect that the OP exits entirely out of the game when they aren't playing. In that case, you have to restart Origin to start the game. And then you can't start the game without updating it. There's no option to say "I don't want to update at this time." Going offline only works if you keep your game ready to play rather than exiting it.

This is not a problem for me because I tend to update each time. But I can see how it might be annoying to those who don't like the updates since the updates often change things that people don't want changed.

@KatAnubis In your Origin Application Settings there is an option to disable automatic game updates. I use lots of mods and CC so I do not want a new patch to install in my game until I am ready for it, i.e. after I've had a chance to make any necessary updates to my mods and CC. I have not yet installed the December 7 game patch but I am able to play the game just fine with keeping Origin off-line for now.

If I go to My Game Library and click on the Sims 4 game tile, I do have the option to play Sims 4 with Origin off-line even though I have not yet installed the game patch.

I'm just a regular Sims player, I do not work for EA.

@DallasNeedsAD  I've had something like that happen in my game-- after installing a game patch all of my base game worlds disappeared. I was able to fix this by repairing my game through Origin. Are you playing on a PC or Mac? If you are on a PC have you tried repairing your game?

While in logged in on Origin

    - Select My Game Library

    - Right click on the Sims 4 game tile

    - Select Repair from the pop-up menu

This will have Origin run a scan on all of your game files and replace anything that is corrupted or missing. Wait until the scan is completed for your base game and all of your expansion packs. It should not affect any of your user files, like your Saves, Tray, and Mods folders, but I always back mine up before running the Repair, just in case.

Good luck I hope this helps :D
