After updating my game 2 or 3 (maybe 4) updates ago, I came across a new cache.package file as I went to clear the cache files, as usual. I absolutely don't remember this file from before the update.
What I want to know is this indeed a new file and is it safe to delete?
Hopefully I'm posting my question to the correct location of the Sims 4 corner of the EA forums, it's been a while since I posted. . .
After 25/Feb/2025 update, new package file added in The Sims 4 folder, named 'localsimtexturecache.package', this file very huge volume file.
Of course we can delete this file, can't we?
I don't know which tag is best for this topic, so I selected several.

I saw that and almost deleted it, not having any clear understanding of what it was. I'm in the habit of deleting the onlinethumbcache, the avatarthumbcache as well as the localthumcache.package. Helps to keep my game running smoothly.
I'm by no means an expert, but this item showing up after the patch seems to contain the changes made. I'm disinclined to delete it, myself. but I will await a professional answer on this.

I just spotted this file today too so would like to know if it can be safely deleted.

The localsimtexturecache.package file acts as a cache of composited Sim textures, it's used to speed up loading times.
While it IS safe to delete, it will be generated again the next time you launch the game, and has a file size limit of 100 MB.

Noticed a new file in the game, and wondering if it's a file that should be deleted regularly like the localthumbscache file? It's called localsimtexturecache.
