My sim "doesn't have permission" to use the chess table

Hi folks! I've seen a few threads about this from a year ago or more and there weren't any clear fixes then from what I saw. I suddenly can't use any chess tables. I don't use mods or CC. Ideas?

@5over6 Could you try a game repair through EA app, steam or Origin depending on what platform you are on.

Having same trouble on Xbox 1, my sims can't play chess at the library as I tried for the time traveller quest, it says don't have permission to play not sure if it's due to the quest has don't go library that often but this quest tells you to do things at library that is how I found out .
