I am on a PC and I play with mods. All my mods are updated, and I tried with removing them, to only have the same issue. This happens with old saves and new, fresh out of CAS saves. We can't load onto the lot at all, not even in build mode.
I know I wasn't tagged, but I'm sharing my experience.

I'm having the same problem, even when trying to go into build mode. I knew I should've waited longer to update, I was playing just fine until I updated today.

Try the following then
- Close the game
- Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
- Repair the game
- Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry.
- Start a new save game
- Check if you still have the error
- Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.
