Questions About Dining Tables & Buffet

    PipMenace​ Ok Ok!  whoo!  I removed all chairs except the middle 2.  In dining room, they still complain about path (?) bubble.  

    ODD... while testing sim walks over and puts down a plate of food in middle.  Both sims refuse to set the table.  

    Moved table/chairs outside.  Success!  

    Ok, so what's wrong with the dining room space?  I remove the rug.  Nope.  I change the table orientation, moving it more toward the interior of the room.  Success!  They will place settings.  

    Again, what's wrong?  Only thing left is the overhead lighting fixture.  I remove the lighting.
    Success !!!!   whooo!!   I don't understand why the light fixture had this effect, but removing it worked. 
    Put all chairs, set table.  Success !!   Now I need a light fixture and will test to make sure it works in the room.  

    Thank you PipMenace for giving me the examples and describing your thought process.  Helped me see the troubleshooting differently.  Once I thought of it as variables, it clicked.  Thank you for your patience and kindness.

    That's really strange. Do you play with mods?

      No Mods ever.  I've had CC but removed it all before the May update.  Haven't added CC back in.  
      It's been this way for awhile.  One of those minor bugs I ignore.  
      After hosting an event I decided to ask Q&A all my "dining questions".  lol

        I haven’t been able to reproduce this yet, but adding my two cents to at least list what I ruled out so far:

        • I still get 8 place settings whether the table is set by a kid or an adult
        • I still get 8 place settings whether in a large or small household
        • I still get 8 place settings even if I use move objects to offset some of the chairs, even when I overlap two of them.

        I’m honestly stumped what else might cause it.  🤔 Is it just this sim, or have you tried with multiple sims/households?
