Saving relationship progress when switching households

So I'm new to the sims 4, I always dreamed of playing and I finally got to, on console the ps4, but I can't seem to figure out how to keep my households all in the same world from losing relationship progress with saves, do I have to merge the households or is it even possible? Because for example, I wanted my male Sim become romantically involved with my other Sim which is his neighbor, but I save but when I switch to the female Sim that progress never happened, I want to play both households but without losing any progress relationship wise, is it even possible?

    @JadenLoveSims  It sounds like you've created two separate saves instead of two households within the same save.  Each save progresses independently of any others, so when your sims build a relationship in one save, that progress won't transfer.  To accomplish what you want, you'll need to switch households back and forth within just one save.
