Sim eating whole tree?

Anyone else had this happen? Occasionally, when telling my Sim to eat something while away from home, she'd walk over to a fruit tree (with corresponding eat fruit interaction queued), pick something invisible off the ground and eat it. And should I then save and reload the game afterwards, affected plant (still standing there just prior) has disappeared. In other words, my Sim effectively consumed not just one single piece of fruit but an entire tree.

Edit: I had this happen in Sunset Valley Central Park, no sure why it got moved here

  • kusurusu  If you're still wondering about this, technically a fruit tree is a fruit (buried in the ground, as a seed) plus a tree, or at least that's how it looks from a MasterController perspective.  If you view a lot's objects with MC, you'll note that each tree/bush/vine has an associated fruit or vegetable separate from any available harvestables.  While there's no way to click the fruit directly, it's possible that the game sees it as a valid target for autonomous actions, or for the resolving of a need when you just click the moodlet.  And once that harvestable disappears, the tree/bush/vine should as well since it's now built on nothing.

This seems more of an oversight than anything else, although it would be interesting to know whether this happens only with premade trees and bushes or with those your sim plants.  At any rate, maybe it would be best in these cases not to tell the sim to auto-solve the hunger need.

  • Well, either she's got a tree-mendous appetite, or it is a game bug.

Can we ask ... is this happening in the One True Game, that is, Sims 3 ?

It's just that usually you post about issues with the games you play on the Gli ...  😈 er, we mean Sims 4 😇

Just thought we ought to check in case you have posted in the wrong section.

We do know that an update to that ... version ... of the Sims series ... Sims 4 (😱 after having said it twice ...)  had issues with disappearing plants between saves from the Eco Lifestyle pack onwards, but that was more one that caused them to reset back to a just planted state.

There may well be mods available to countermand this, but as Four is not our forte, you'll need to ask around.

fruits: same result as on community lots (sim eats something picked up from the ground and after save/reload plant is gone)

fruit seeds: nothing happens when clicking on hunger moodlet
