@SimmeringPassion , Yes it gets a bit confusing since back then the console versions of the Sims, Sims 2, and Sims 3 were always very different from PC/Mac versions! Sometimes it is hard to remember them all. Then you add things like The Sims Bustin' Out, Sims Medieval, The Urbz, Sims Castaway, and My Sims , and it gets even more confusing! 😅 But I'm glad you had fun on this walk down Memory Lane! 💗
With the Pet Carpool, I always imagined the human carpool driver being asked what they do for a living, and then answer that they drive pets to and from their jobs! 😂 Then the person asks "Do the owners come along?" and the driver says "No, just the pets!". You have to wonder what that driver would do if the pet went to the bathroom, threw up, or started tearing up the car upholstery! 🤔😱😅
The reason why they didn't include Create a Style in the Sims 4, from what I remember them saying years ago, was because in The Sims 3 it caused some people's computers to lag horribly. This made sense to me, since I was one of the people it happened to! 😥 This lag would happen any time you went into CAS or Build & Buy Mode. It would take around 15 or so minutes to load! That wouldn't be so bad, except when I would not like the results in LIve Mode, or change my mind, or remember something I forgot to change... and then I had to wait another 15 min for me to load CAS or B & B Mode again! 😭 Granted, I believe this mostly happened to people who saved a lot of swatches, which I did! I downloaded a bunch of CC patterns and then recolored them in every color combo that was pleasing to me and then saved all the ones I liked! So mine probably wouldn't have lagged so much upon loading B & B Mode or CAS if I hadn't done that. It worked fine at first when I didn't have a lot of swatches saved. But had I known that would happen, I would have been more careful with what I saved and didn't save! I was not the only person this happened to, but the other people probably saved a great amount of swatches or else had a weaker computer. (This is a totally separate issue from gameplay lag in Live Mode, but that is why The Sims 4 was not made to be an open world game).
So, when I found out that TS4 would not have the CASt wheel, I was both thrilled and devastated! Thrilled because it wouldn't take me forever to load CAS and B&B Mode, but devastated that my favorite feature from TS3 was gone. And since I thought TS3 didn't have as much fun gameplay as TS2, I really relied on the CASt wheel for my fun in the game.
So, I don't think they took Create a Style out so that it could feel refreshed for TS5 (they wouldn't know at that point if there was even going to be a TS5 or not). They might have even tried to include it in TS4, but even if they didn't, I think they had those people with lesser computers in mind, and they probably couldn't get it to work in time for it to not lag so much on those computers. Hopefully they can get it to work well on lesser computer if they decide to include it in TS5 (if there is going to be a TS5), and I would also hope they warn people not to save every pattern in every color that they come across!
So I understand why CASt wasn't in TS4, but I just would have liked it better if they let us recolor the frames of things like beds separate from the fabric, like they did in TS2! That, and I wish there was a collection of wood swatches that came with every item so we could match all the woods to one another. They have tried to correct this recently, so it is better! 👍😃
LOL! While the cats who played with the dog's tail are certainly cute, the dog just did it because he loves the attention and loves all other creatures in his pack, and visitors that his humans accepted. He is a very friendly and affectionate dog! 🥰 The cats are very cute though! Super soft and fluffy! 💗
