Sims all freeze after the one returns from work

Hi guys, my game keeps freezing/being weird after my one sim returns home from work. All the sims on the lot just freeze or get trapped in whatever activity they are doing and I can't stop them. When I try to save and exit the game I just get never ending loading screen. Ive tried taking out mods/cc to see if that is the issue but it still keeps happening. Any advice?
