Sims can't go up the stairs

I just finished building a house that took me hours and hours to build. Now, while playtesting the game, my Sims couldn't walk up the stairs. This issue is just on this build; the way the stairs are is also not anything different. I have builds with similar stairs, and those work without an issue. Just for this one build, it won't work. What's weird is that my sim has no problem getting off a 4x raised platform...but when there's stairs attached to the platform, they can't use it. Is this happening to anyone else? I tried everything, practically dismantled the whole build, but it does not work at all. I tried a few YouTube videos, even restarted the game, but it still won't work. What should I do?

The issue is the top of the bottom staircase - the last step before the platform is too high for the sim to stand on without removing the ceiling above it.

Interestingly, if you just draw the fence around those two tiles and delete the ceiling, your sims will be able to go upstairs but not downstairs. I discovered this was because of the (invisible/cutout by stairs) section of "room" that was sticking out at the top of the stairs and would be visible if the staircase was moved. When I deleted the entire existing fence, however, and then redrew the fence cutting right across the top of the upper stairs and over the two tiles necessary to remove above the lower stairs, then to the wall, making the entire area above the stairs into one room that can then have its floor deleted, my sims were able to go both up and down.

  • Have you tried removing the ceiling above the stairs? They look too high for an adult sim to fit at the bottom (because of the platform), and I think by default it only removes a few tiles near the top.

Is the house on the gallery? I could place in my game and take a look.

I'm having trouble placing the lot. Did you use the family portrait frame or any photos/paint from reference paintings? If so, can you try reuploading without them?
