terrain not being removed from foundation above basement

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.56.52.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? everything
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? put a deck over a basement room, draw out a fence enclosure around where the stairs are going to come through to delete any odd floor tiles. Remove the ceiling from the basement room and the staircase emerges through the dirt!
What happens when the bug occurs? Sims still use the staircase but it looks very odd when they come through the dirt
What do you expect to see? remove the earth completely
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

As above, it's simple enough to place a roof on the terrain and put a staircase from a basement leading up to the enclosure - but it's not a room and the Sims can't route to it.

If you put the roof on a platform then it becomes a room because it has a fence around the platform. But then the dirt beneath the platform isn't removed when you place a staircase - which just looks odd.

For my troubles I am trying to build a couple of biodomes on a martian surface! And it's becoming too frustrating - It should be possible to build connecting tunnels on the surface, but I am not sure that's what I want to do as they will be roof sections too, and will probably end up being too big for the right effect. Grrr!

  • I figured it out eventually! It's all to do with removing the floor tile left behind when the L-shaped stairs go in. If you don't make a fence enclosure and don't delete that tile everything's OK.
