TS4 Neigbors won’t leave my front door and won’t come in

I’m playing TS4 on my mac. I just moved my family to Del sol valley and the neighbors show up at my door for a welcome wagon, but the welcome wagon never pops up . You can see them with fruitcake in their hands and they’re waiting. My sims can interact with them but cannot invite them in. These sims have been stuck outside my house for three sims days already and i can’t get them to leave. they’re hungry, hot / cold , sleepy ETC. If one of these sims die out in my front door i’m going to give this game a break ☹️ How to fix this stupid bug? I play with mods but this just started to happen now ..

    This happened in my game recently. Since the welcome wagon event did not trigger I was able to travel to another lot. When I got back the visitors had gone. A day or two later the proper welcome wagon event did happen and all was well.

    Probably a delay between interactions, their next action might have been to come in and interact with something or someone but for whatever reason something is preventing the next action from triggering. i get that a few times when someone stands in front of the kitchen sink doing nothing and they finally go about doing something else later on.
