UFO plants. The truth may be out there...but the plant is not!

So I've been rebuilding my game for the past several months after losing it all to an error code.

One new console and about 150 Sims later and I still haven't found a UFO plant.

I've tried with a collector scientist who spent a solid Sim month neglecting work and taking rocket trips. I've tried with gardeners. I've bought hundreds of rare plant seed packets. I've gone to the stalls in Fishwick when the fair is on and even got a Strangerville fruit there but no UFO fruit. I've tried Geek-Con rocket trips.

I've checked the City Living festivals because in my previous game I found one at the romance festival. But now my romance festival is bugged and I crash travelling there most of the time and the plants are bugged glowing yellow with fruit in the air (already reported) and no UFO plant.

I'm building a garden centre/plant nursery that sells all rare fruit, canned vegetable products, herbal remedies, fertilizers, etc. It has every rare plant in it plus the fruit to purchase. But I can't complete it without a UFO fruit/plant.

Where am I not looking?

It was always hard to find but at this point it would be easier to stand outside in my backyard with a telescope and look for a real UFO sighting! In the time I've been looking we've had actual Mars viewings here but I still can't find a UFO plant!

  • Thanks for all the tips everyone it's much appreciated.

I went back to my rocket scientist explorer Sim and she did a full 4 hours (IRL) of rocket trips existing on moodlet solvers to get through it!

I won the space race and I think there must be a bug possibly as it gave me cowberries as a reward?!? Which seems odd. I've never got cowberries in space in all these years.

None of the other trips came up. It was just the same ones on repeat. Eventually the Mayday trip popped up and I got my UFO fruit, phew. I've never got one on that trip before.

Fishwick stalls on fair day offered me every single plant in the game except this one for the past week but I bet it has one for sale the next time I go and I'll scream!

I'm sure the science lab has had one growing there on one of my previous saves but not on this one.

I'll be selling them in my garden centre now as I don't want to sit for 4 hours again going rocket up, rocket down, rocket up, rocket down!

The UFO plant is the only alien plant that's base game, and (with apologies to the esteemed jpkarlsen) they are NOT on Sixam. There are only two ways to get the UFO plant that I'm aware of, and they're both very random. Both involve rocket missions.

    1. If you get the Space Race card, you want to try to win the race because the UFO fruit is the prize (sometimes? always?).

    2. If you get The Green Man card, the UFO fruit is a possible reward.

Further details behind a spoiler cut, in case you (or someone else) wants to be surprised and that's enough of a hint.

    Spoiler
For the Space Race card, you need upgraded thrusters and to push it. For the Green Man card, lol I usually fail this one. I've seen mixed instructions on how to succeed, so perhaps it's random or tied to a skill (fishing for the swamp?). I think I succeded once with exploring the jungle and not taking a weapon, but I've also failed the jungle and someone else on google says you need to forage the swamp and take a weapon (and I KNOW I've failed the swamp!), so...?

    Good luck!

[Edit] I just googled and someone else said they'd gotten them from the "accidental bootlegger" card. I usually get mine from the Space Race.

@xochiquetzl_xkvn Thanks so much for that, I could not remember which of the space missions it was. I've done the space race recently too but lost.
Looks like my farmer will need to brush up on his rocket science skill! He's got all of the Sixam plants, it would be easier if these grew there too.
  • I once got one as a prize at the fair in HoB and I think I saw one in one of the booths there once, as well, so while they're not a sure thing it might be worth checking those in between space missions.

I could have sworn I got it from there. It might have been from the science lab lot where you can look for alien stuff but it has been a long time since I last played a scientist.

@Katherineb6667 my gallery lot is called The Farmers Market. It's a garden centre selling all the plants in my game, plus rare fruits and magic beans. It has a trailer for the owner to stay overnight and rare plants indoors so they grow all year round because I've had so many plant problems. I added a few preserves and things like that just to make it look like a little market plus a food stall. The plants can be harvested by anyone, to help out my other households if they need anything like the Granite Falls plants for home remedies, etc.
