There simply is no simple "fix". As I explained to the OP there are differences in the male and female bodies that has to be taken into account. They changed it so that males could use female clothing and the other way around knowing that much of it would not look very good on the other gender just as in real life. Both you and the OP are welcome to suggest that they make male/female conversions but there simply is not a simple "fix" to the differences in the body frames of the sexes. There were two things the OP and you brought up. Male shirt not fitting very well. The male torso simply is much bigger than females. You mention that female jeans don't fit males very well. This is because females have wider hips than men.

No I'm not ignoring that. I speak in general terms and there are some men's clothing that some women can wear without it looking bad but it isn't true for all men's clothes. I clearly don't know about you personally but I have seen average sized women that could wear most clothes from an average sized male teenagers (late teens) wardrobe without too much difficulty. Trousers of course would need considerable shortening of the legs as an average woman's height is about 165cm while a male late teen would be about 180cm but if it was low cut jeans it will probably look alright on a woman. For some other kind of male pants it wouldn't look as good.
I'm in no way trying to tell you how you should dress that is up to you and if you should happen to be underage then your legal custodian as well. You are more than welcome to suggest that the developers create versions of male oriented clothes that will fit a female Sim better. If enough request it they may just do that.
Interestingly the average height of US citizens are 3-5CM (Female/Male) shorter than European counterparts. I don't know if it is related but the average US citizen also eats about three times as much fast-food as their European counterpart.

By “simple fix” I was referring to your suggestion that one simply make the bust size smaller so that masculine-coded tops aren’t so distorted. That’s an ok idea for a temporary solution, it kind of works, for some scenarios, but it’s clearly not ideal for something seeking nonbinary representation.
Your explanation about body types is nice but not necessary! I already understand that “there are differences in the male and female bodies that has to be taken into account.” I also understand that large breasts don’t look like that under sweaters and suit jackets, and it’s a totally legitimate complaint that it’s poorly done even if there’s no solution for Sims 4. The clothing meshes just don’t look good on fat bodies either, they really struggle with fitting on anything other than a thin, heteronormative frame. They look wonky, and if you’re saying that’s intentional, then I think this feedback is important: it looks bad. It’s something important to consider for the future, since EA has expressed an interest in offering nonbinary gender representation in the Sims!
Also, although masculine frames tend to have smaller hips, when they wear high-waisted pants, they don’t yank them down below their bellybuttons. They still wear naval-high pants at the naval, they’re not up there because of wide hips. You can give a female-framed Sim a hipless body and the high-waisted jeans still sit at the naval. The hips should have nothing to do with it, it just looks sloppy. I hope that helps to understand this critique!

What gets me is that there are clothes in the CAS that are rated to fit both M and F, and they do, so I know it isn't impossible. I like modeling sims on anime characters, and there are female characters whose "best match" clothes are male, and vice-versa. It's very frustrating when "best match" doesn't, because a designer chose not to check all the boxes -- figuratively and literally.
Perhaps the veteran CC modders out can provide some insight as to the difficulties involved in doing this?
I did write that the OP could try with a smaller chest size in the hopes the shirt she really liked then would look better on her female sim. When she refused that idea I suggested she found something that would look better on her Sim because even if the dev team decides to make a version that fit the female body better it would, take some time so suggesting something better looking in the here and now would be better than wearing something that did not look as good.
The navel high jeans on sims stay up because they are painted on at that height. in real life we men have to use belts or suspenders to keep them up even more so if like me you are overweight. Overweight on men largely sits on the belly pressing the trousers downwards while on females it sits around the hips and thus create a natural barrier for the trousers not to slide down. Notice that I do not say that either of you should be obese but it is to explain why that even the most obese male sim has naval height trousers sitting firmly at that height because the trousers are painted at that height. Regarding that it should be a sloppy work that caused that male themed clothing doesn't always look good on a female sim and vise versa. It is because from the get go in 2014 clothes in the Sims 4 was strictly male/female. It was first relatively recently that they due to popular demand made it possible for male and female Sims to wear the other genders clothes. Since they were never developed for it it is no surprise that some of it doesn't look too good on the other gender. Unless they make a more uniform body in the future I'm afraid that there will continue to be some items of clothing that will not look too well on the other gender The only solution I can see would be to make both a male and a female version of each piece of clothing. Whether that will happen I can not say but it is the only solution I personally see.
