i'm not sure what is happening with my sims 4 game. i'ts being very laggy, slow, and freezes in game. it works fine in the main menu, cas, and build mode, but just not in game. i only have 3GB in my mods folder right now which isn't a lot compared to some people and their game works fine, my laptop isn't very slow usually so i'm so confused why my games being like this. does anyone else have this problem and how can i fix this?
@abc1381541026 This size of your Mods folder might not be an issue but if you have any outdated mods in there then yeah something like that could definitely be causing many problems in your game. You might want to temporarily remove all mods and CC from your Mods folder and put them in a safe place like an external drive or a temp folder on your desktop (leave the file called Resource.cfg). Then delete the localthumbcache.package file in your Sims 4 folder (this step is important), and then try a test on a fresh New Game. If all looks good then you can just quit without saving.
If your game works fine without mods and CC, then you should start checking to see which files are causing the problem. The best way to start your troubleshooting is to check all of your mods to see if any of them have updated versions available that are compatible with the latest game patch. Even if they aren't causing any noticeable problems in your game you should only use updated versions of all mods. I check for updates after every game patch. Here is one mod tracker site I use to check for updates:

Scroll down to where you see Main Tracker / A - Z and see if you can find your mods in there. The tracker often provides links to where you can download an updated version or it will show if an older version of a mod is still compatible with the latest game patch.
Here is another site you can use to find out which mods and CC have been affected by the latest game patch:
After you have downloaded updated versions of your mods, or verified that your current versions are compatible with the latest game patch, you can start putting them back in. You can try adding your CC first as they are less likely to have been made obsolete by a game patch. If you have a lot of files you can try the 50/50 method where you add half of your CC, then check your game, and if all looks good add the other half and check again. Then do the same with adding updated versions of your mods. If anything looks wrong you'll have to use trial and error to see which file is still causing a problem. If you find something obsolete with no updated versions available you'll just have to stop using it.
I know this is a long answer but there aren't really any short-cuts for maintenance and troubleshooting of mods and CC.

I’m having the same issue. I have a very high end gaming laptop so it should be able to handle the size of cc. I updated all of my mods. I haven’t updated my cc bc 9 times out of 10 they don’t have updated versions. But what concerns me is that my fiancé is having lag problems. He also has a high end gaming laptop, no mods or cc. This tells me it’s an issue with the update itself. Neither of us own the new EP bc I want this issue fixed first.
@candiecoatediv There are some CC items that were broken by the June 3 game patch. Something like this is not likely to be causing the lag but if any of your CC items were outdated by the patch it's probably not helping either. Here's a link with more details on that:
I use several mods in my game and about 300 CC items and I'm not currently having any lag problems. I have all the EP's except Get To Work and I'm patched up to the latest release. I'm not 100% certain but to me it seems like they made some changes to the game lighting in the June 3 patch and it's possible something like this could be causing problems with certain types of video cards. You might want to check out this Tech Report to see if this appears similar to the problem you are seeing in your game:
If so, perhaps you could post in that thread as higher numbers of replies should draw more attention from EA. Reading through it, I'm not seeing a fix yet but at least you can get an idea of what has already been tried. hi. the methods you suggested sadly didn't work very well. they worked for a few days but the game still froze many times and lagged. i removed the localthumbache package, and even removed my whole mods folder and re-downloaded new versions, but the game continues to freeze and be slow. every time i try to switch sims or click on an object to do an action, the game takes ages to actually load it up.. this makes the game really boring and annoying to play and i might stop playing if i cant fix this.

@abc1381541026 Yes, that's what I wanted, thanks. Your dxdiag is missing a lot of information though, because it crashed while running. Between that and the system errors at the end, it's a good idea to run a couple of checks on your Windows system files. Here's how:
Restart your computer, and manually run any pending Windows updates. Hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the button to check for updates. If you have a number of them pending, it may take a few tries, with restarts in between, to get them all to run.
Please also disable Game Bar. Hit Windows key-i, select Settings > Gaming > Game Bar, and turn it off (the first option at the top).
Restart again, test the game, and let me know whether it still runs as slowly as before. If it does, please run another dxdiag.
Just so you know, with only 4 GB memory, your laptop is always going to run the game more slowly than it would with more memory installed, and probably more slowly than it did when you had fewer packs installed. That's unavoidable to a certain extent. But there are still steps you can take to help, such as not running any other apps while you play and restarting the game before launching, to free up as much RAM as possible.
