you don't need to buy food to cook certain dishes in the sims 4. You can click on the fridge, cook and then choose from the options. The better your cooking skills are, the more dishes you can cook. If you have a computer you can buy seed packets for fruit and vegetables and grow them. They can imporve the quality of your meals if you use them.
They might add schools in updates or expansion packs, but I don't know anything about that yet. Cars may also come in an expansion pack or update.

I really dont enjoy the gardening part of the game, i miss the ability to just go to a store and buy the groceries like in sims 3.
I also miss the no loading screens for crossing the street, laundry machines, bookstores, ordered items having a delivery time and a few more things. why does sims 4 still feel like such an incomplete game? i get that they dont want to put everything in straight away so that they can sell it as an expansion, but that explains university life and pets, not the removal of the freakin grocery store...

They need to add groceries to the game...i think it sucks that you have to grow every thing you need just to cook a decent meal...I like the old format WAAAAAAAAAY better...you could grow stuff if ya wanted or NOT...Some people prefer to just go to the store and buy food...NOT EVERY ONE IS A DANG FARMER! I'm just sayin! That and cars, schools, and being able to USE our own pictures in the game would be nice with out needing to download a bunch of stuff that doesnt even work anyway...the new format sucks man, seems to me it just FOR ARTISTS and their * they dont like to share...other wise why ALL THE lame poses that are completely USELESS IN THE GAME BUY THE WAY! another im just sayin...
- Anonymous9 years agoFound the answer, its true that you can use the fridge to get new food but use your phone to travel to another world to visit the gym or bookstore.

what if we need to buy strawberries?????????????????????
- Anonymous8 years ago
you grow them i guess... ^-^
- Anonymous8 years agoThere is a product stall in the Spice Market area of San Myshuno, sells basic food like onion, carrot, tomato, grapes etc. Have just bought some stuff from there
🤔 I'm afraid I don't understand what all the fuss is about not having strawberries unless you grow them, because every recipe just automatically lets you cook it by just clicking on it, so you buy all the items you need for any recipe by just choosing that recipe 🙂 (with the exception a couple of recopies that came with the Outdoor Retreat Game Pack, in which you actually have to go to a National Park and fish for the correct fish in order to make that recipe) ! Yes, food is better with home grown produce, but if you don't want to garden, then just have your Sims raise their cooking skill and the food quality will improve! :eahigh_file: To ensure you don't get a bad moodlet from bad tasting food, just have your Sim only cook recipes that are 1 skill level below their current level. While you can't do this until they are at Cooling level 2, it takes no time to get up to that level, especially if you have them watch the Cooking Channel every time they watch TV! 😎 They have fun and learn at the same time! Also, if you don't want to garden, just collect plant from around the neighborhood from time to time -- that way you have at least some produce on hand, but don't have to spend time watering and weeding! It is in reality, free food! 🥳
I was also going to mention what @PhysicalDelete mentioned: if you have the City Living Expansion Pack, then go to the San Myshuno town and visit the Spice Market neighborhood where there is usually a produce stand where you can buy many of the produce in the game! You can also visit the Romance Festival and the Spice Festival when they are in town and harvest from the plants they have at the festival, including a few rarer items! 😇
There really is no need for grocery stores in the game, except to mimic our real lives! 😉
I hope this helps all of you!
