I'm not a computer expert or anything, but from I saw when I looked up the specs, neither of these computer sound like they'd be very good for playing Sims on. Have you checked to see if they meet at least the minimum requirements for the game? If you have pets, check the requirements for that instead of the base game, as the minimum requirements for Cats and Dogs is not the same as the minimum requirements for the base game and other packs.
I know they're expensive, but if you want a laptop to play sims on, your best option is probably to get a gaming laptop. Most of the ones out there have specs that will pretty much guarantee they will run the game, even on the highest settings.
