Brown dig patches?

I'm glad you posted this because now I know its not my game. I have the same thing. I can't search for frogs any more because all I have is brown dig patches. I'm getting weird stuff when I dig as well. I got a Minnow Fish in the community garden where there used to be a Frog spawning log.

Edit: Rather randomly, my frog and mineral spawners have returned. I don't know what I did to make it happen. But they have returned. Very weird.
