- EgonVM8 years agoSeasoned AceIt happened in the November patch before The Sims 4 Cats and Dogs came out so pets can dig it up.
- I just realised I might be able to tell which collectible comes from which rocks
as crystals come from rocks with crystals sticking out, theres another rock with bones sticking out so possibly a fossil, not sure for metals yet or capsules so if anyone knows please let me know. - In general, the look of the node does offer a hint as to what it's hiding but not always. Time Capsules and Treasure Maps tend to emerge from all of the collection nodes. I have a Sim working on the Collector Aspiration, I'll pay close attention to what type of node hides metals.
Most of my treasure hunts end up with almost 2 times as many Time Capsules than anything else. Where you hunt can also make a difference. The city park in Oasis Springs is an excellent place to find fossils for instance. Anyway, I'll report back to you later today :) - thank you, I end up in oasis springs most of the time for crystals and fossils as I have only seen around 3 dig rocks at willow creek community area. not sure apart from oasis the best places to gather from
- No problem. The nodes respawn at annoying intervals. Usually at least once per Sim day in your home world or areas you regularly visit. It's kind of like your presence has to let the game know you are there. Sometimes it can take two or three trips to the parks or a neighborhood to trigger them. Also look near fishing spots, harvestable plants, and frog hiding places. San Myshuno is the hardest because you are limited to cardboard boxes. Once in a while they drop something amazing, like a portable DJ booth :o
As for the types of nodes, the ones with bones do tend to drop fossils, the ones with crystals drop crystals, and then there are some covered with what look like tiny gemstones. These are where you will find the metals. Any of them will give you time capsules and treasure maps. If you have the Cats and Dogs EP there are piles of dirt for dogs to excavate. I don't have that EP, but the dirt mounds started showing up anyway. All I usually get are spare upgrade parts. lol I haven't seen any since yesterday's patch though.
My best advice for hunting collectables is to just get out there and explore every inch of every neighborhood and park. I'm still finding new nodes even in Willow Creek. There is a whole area with places to fish and plants to harvest behind the library. For the longest time I thought it was inaccessible! I'm still working uploading images to the forums. I'll try to get some screen shots of the best places to find fossils and the like.
Hope that helped, and happy hunting! - awesome thx
- Glad to help out. Tomorrow I'll take some screen shots. I finally realized that "Image URL" meant the photo file on my computer, not an image from a website. D'oh!
- huh didn't see rock images on carls guide but seems the crystal sprouting and boney rocks seem to have a good chance of giving their respective collectibles but may give capsules to
- My sim is able to dig the brown patches when I mouse over them , but what do you get from doing so?
- quick question is there a mod to add the spawning rocks? cos ive only been able to find 2 rocks max 3 in willow creek community area and only in one little spot
