I started a new Rags to Ranches in HoB with Kayla Flemming. I didn’t realize she was a celebrity and my sims are automatically opted out of the fame system. So she has the status, but it’s not really active, and it will go away on its own in time (I know from playing the Itos). But what about the quirks? Because she still has the juice quirk and she got an angry moodlet because she hadn’t had a drink. I wonder if it will go away and how long that will take?
It kinda works for her in this scenario. I figure she left Del Sol Valley with a juice dependency to detox from. Too bad she has to go to the pub to get chips. Will I give in and let her drink? Would that prolong the quirk?
Use the aspiration points to purchase Quirk-B-Gone. Have her drink it and you can select which quirk to dismiss. Works like a champ.

Not sure if you can have your sim book a celebrity cleanse when you opt-out, but that gets rid of all quirks if I remember correctly. Though it doesn't help with your story! I've never opted out, but I would assume that everything would either go bye-bye or stay the same? And there is always a cheat to remove the quirk if you wanted to at some point. Not sure if that one is a testingcheats on shift click cheat or a type it in the box cheat, but I'm pretty sure there is one somewhere. And there's the Quirk B Gone potion too.
Once you opt out, it's as though that sim's fame never happened. Quirks disappear, rewards stop, and while your sim can still be "normal" socially with any celebrities they were already acquainted with, meeting any new celebrities will give the whole "OMG IT'S A FAMOUS PERSON ohgodohgodohgod WOW" over-the-top fangirling reaction.
I still have the memory burned into my brain when Actress Meryl Streep was falling all over herself in anticipation of giving the Lifetime Achievement Award to Sir Paul McCartney years ago. Talk about fangirlish behavior. LOL We all have to remember they're just people, too. Their jobs may be more interesting, but they aren't so different from us. ;)
