Cloning machine - age restrictions

I have evil scientist sims, and I really would like them to have a science baby and then be able to clone it after it becomes a toddler. Does the cloning machine only work on young adult sims and older? What’re the age restrictions?

It’s not really cloning, but you could take them into CAS and make twins, etc. of them. I don’t know the restrictions on the cloning machine, but you could download a cloning machine from the gallery and test it out, if you don’t get an answer here.
