Death Plant
So, how many have actually completed the task of getting this seemingly hard earned thing that is basically given away in Sims 3? I've been working on it while playing on and off over time... Trying ...

I grow it.
I don't really bother with ambrosia, though. I only grow the flowers to complete the gardening collection and not for anything else. I don't bring any sims back when they die, but if I need them alive for something I'd just cheat them by removing their "death by ---" trait via cheats then putting that cheat back on them when I'm done with whatever I need them alive for (which is usually for saving to my library or for pictures).
