For me CL symbolizes a team that tries their best to make a good product but lost touch with what this franchise is actually about for its players. It’s all atmosphere and looks and scripts instead of giving the players tools to make the game their own. Which for me is the power of The Sims.
It just ended up being an underwhelming expansion.
Restricting simmers from building their own apartments was a design choice I'll never understand. I'd rather them forego the idea of festivals in City Living, and instead focus on giving builders some goodies and greater options - so many of us were looking forward to making our own apartments and townhouses. Can't even build apartments outside of San Myshuno. If we could edit festivals, I would have been impressed but alas.
With University in TS3, the thrill of being picked up by the police for graffiti until your skill maxed, was something I loved. Playing a hungry artist, rebel sim was so easy. Now graffiti art feels like an afterthought. If it's one thing I loved about TS3, was the way art skills were treated. I don't think skills in each iteration should function the same, but some sexiness is missing from TS4 in this respect.
San Myshuno's one Central Park needed some lots around it- yeah I know in other worlds the parks are their own zones, but still :|
