Dishonest Trailer
I wasn't going to make a thread for this, but the more I think about it the more annoyed I get. The new trailer for Get Famous advertises having award ceremonies like this: https://youtu.be/pvM...

Maybe they see it as artistic license, creative license, or dramatic license. Whatever you want to call it I don't see it changing. Another instance of deciding whether you will continue to support the game. Or not.
No, they see it as advertising and they put in there what’s allowed apparently to make their product look as juicy as possible to seduce people into buying. I wasn’t born yesterday, we’re not naive or something, we know how advertising works. I don’t mind the juice, I do mind false information. Some of us consider raising false expectations annoying and frustrating and disappointing and we would like to express that. You don’t have to agree, if you’re fine with it more power to you. “Just don’t buy/support the game” isn’t the answer to everything (in fact it never is). I’m not, in fact, supporting the game, I’m not going to buy this pack (and I haven’t bought Seasons or any of the SP’s). I did buy the Sims 3 packs that raised false expectations and I never regretted buying them, those packs in fact were worth their money. Doesn’t change the fact the advertising was out of line sometimes and made me wonder if there aren’t rules for that. That’s the subject here, not whether or not it’s worth buying. I don’t buy products to support a game or a company, I buy products because I want them.
Well then what is the answer? 3 pages in and no suggestions on how to go forward. One way to show dissatisfaction with a company, regardless of why you're dissatisfied, is simply not to buy their products. I agree with you that whether the product is worth it or not is not the issue.
The suggestion is clear: please EA, give us trailers with actual gameplay. Pimp it up if you like but don’t put things in there we won’t see in the game. Like I said before by the way, I don’t think it’s even certain that is the case here, for all we know that background sound is in there (and a background sound is less important for me personally than the suggestion of an actual feature anyway). This topic just adresses the wish of some simmers to reach out to EA and tell them we don’t want fakeness in the trailers. What we’ll get is all we want to see.
I don’t quite understand your line of thought from that to advising people to not buy the product. You have your opinion and your considerations. Please allow others to have theirs? It’s not up to you to give anyone ‘advise’ here, nobody asked for that or even hinted they need it. Much appreciated but thank you, we’ll be fine. We’re just discussing a phenomenon here we don’t like. I love my Sims 3 packs, I resent they promised me stuff that turned out not to be in there though. Wouldn’t I have bought the packs had I known it wasn’t in there? Sure I would, but that doesn’t keep me from rejecting feeling mislead.
