do any of you have a TN monitor?

I have always had IPS which when I googled the difference it says that IPS are best, so I was wondering if anyone that uses TN likes them. If someone can give me some more information than what I can find by google it would be greatly appreciated.. It seems like most of the monitors I have found have the TN panel type.

  • in my honest opinion IPS is greatest for artists, movie editors, etc. They are really good if you're working in media and IPS monitors are fantastic at working with artists, graphic designers, anything artsy fartsy. They are typically slower, gaming quality refresh rates are rare with IPS. But it has the best viewing angles and best color, more expensive and best used for professional artists.

TN is usually the fastest, highest refresh rates, minimal motion blur, low input lag, has the worst viewing angles(but I don't know anyone who lays under their monitor to play the sims just sayin') worst color, it's cheaper, and it's used by professional/competitive gamers.

SO really unless your a profession artist/graphic designer or you really just want your screenshots or other photos just POP when you show them off on your monitor it's more cost effective to get a TN.
  • thank you so much for the information.. I thinking of buying a dell monitor along with the aurora desktop.
  • I'm not sure what happened to my current desktop but it will not start now. I made a iso file of windows 10. then I decided to buy a usb of windows 10 and a new hd installed it on the new hd and now my pc is garbage. :(
I don't understand how this could happen.
  • TN for gaming, always, due to their higher refresh rates and response times. Viewing angles aren’t an issue when you’re sitting right in front of your screen.
  • I dont have a preference either way. But I recall seeing reviews of an MSI laptop that had otherwise great reviews and people criticizing the TN panel screen. I actually owned that laptop at the time and didnt see an issue with the screen at all. But from what I have seen consumers prefer IPS panel. And think TN panel is not preferred , even for gaming.

TN panels are preferred by gamers who play competitively (especially FPS players) because of their lower response times. It really depends what kind of gamer you are. If all you play is TS4 it might not matter much either way.

But TN panels definitely offer more performance for your dollar. High refresh rate IPS panels are harder find and more expensive. For those of us looking for 144HZ and above, especially with multi-monitor setups, TN is the way to go IMO.

Oh okay! All I play is the sims 4.

If the TC is in the same boat, I’d say IPS is the way to go for the image quality/colour accuracy. As long as the price isn’t an obstacle.
