Firstly, what I can guess right now is that it's because the recent patch is about "fixing autonomy". And they had a usual bad reputation for "fixing bugs but bringing many more bugs". It may not be a bug, but after the autonomy mechanic change, your Sims will probably act differently from before the patch.
However, if I think that time is moving after we close the game, it can be like that, as some games are programmed to have progress as we leave the game. But it shouldn't be in The Sims, because it will be such a mess for storytelling players. 😂

It's good that you are still only playing-test the game after the patch. So, you can notice some changes that may mess up your game, and you can quit without saving your progress. Better to keep the backup saved in case some corruptions can't undo.
