Do you ever create "test" Sims?

What I mean by "test" is that the Sim's existence is solely based on being used as a guinea pig of sorts--it's not a household you play regularly, their only purpose is to either test things or set things up in advance. I guess you could call them "worker Sims".

I always have one in every save. His only job is to test out new establishments I've created, or in some cases to prepare things. For example, I always send him to any location I have bee boxes to "enrage" the bees. I'll take care of his needs, but I don't care about his fun or social--he's there to work! lol When he's served his purpose, I don't play him again until I need more testing done.

Do you do anything similar to that?
  • I always create a new “test” save after every game update, to see if I experience any new bugs - either from the game itself or from mods/CC. But I never have sims used for any kind of testing within my active save files. I don’t like any time to pass for my sims while I’m not “there”, even if aging is off.

I always have a test sim for something, even when we get updates and I wait for mccc or put certain things back in and if I like them enough

They get promoted to normal sims.
  • At first I didn't really know what I was doing so I would create the same Sim over and over to test my houses and such... then I had 457348915345534 Phil Google's and it was a hot mess. Since I mostly build for myself, I build and then I put the Sims that will be in the place there and test it that way.

:) We're only able to do it because we don't know what we are missing!! :D :D

(sorry, I couldn't resist giving that answer. I don't use mods or CC because I am paranoid and afraid of breaking my game and because I have a 6 year old laptop)

I swear, if I play mod-less another week, I'll be taken to the nearest asylum in a straight-jacket! No joke! I can't wait to play a game without every 3+ celebrity reacting in disgust to EVERYTHING or 4+ have that annoyingly slow walkstyle. Where no sim ever reacts positively to sims with pristine reputation. My scientist is greeted by all his co-workers EVERY morning (except the receptionist, for some reason), and they all cheer and fawn over him, when he's been working with the same bunch every weekday for TWO YEARS! He should be very well known to them by now. I'm not playing sims to take part in a popularity contest, honestly...And of course the rest of the plethora of annoyances and behaviour I don't like. Not to mention some degree of "story progression". As it is now, nothing is happening in townie lives.

Not here to convert anyone, and didn't want to derail the thread (technically this IS about my test sim :D ), but yeah, don't know what you're missing :D

As I stated earlier, sometimes I will take my test Sim to a club and just let him do whatever he wants while I watch the scene...well, lately Emilia Ernest and Geoffrey Landgraab keep showing up at his house--come to find out, he's formed a pretty strong friendship with both of them! I had no idea....

Now I'm tempted to try for a baby with Darrell, even though I'm usually not that type of player. Was the Sim mother also a spellcaster, or was she human?

She's human, so I guess Lady Luck was on my side! :)

I actually created a Test Sim earlier today, to see if it's possible to stash 9.999.999 simoleons in a vault and still make money. It was. Me happy.

I found this out too recently. I was sooooo HAPPY.

It's good to know that it doesn't have to stop there. ;)
