I usually do play without my Sims couples having kids for a while, but at some point I often don't know what to do with them and they end up having a child. I play with aging off at first, but I always want to turn it on and I don't want to end the game with my Sims just dying without no one to inherit them.
Few times I've just abandoned my single Sim or a couple and let them live on their own and continued playing with another Sim(s) in the same save. I guess I prefer my Sims having children at some point, even just to continue the game after they die and also because I really love toddlers and children on this game.
