Do you play as your Simself?

I made myself, my husband, and our kids in TS3 and played them until my kids were adults. It felt weird to me to play us, especially when my husband's and my sims died. What I found pretty funny is one of my simself's grand-daughters looked almost identical to my niece. I didn't think my simself looked anything like me but I guess maybe she did.

Now, I prefer to play sims who aren't based off of any real world people. I do feel like there is a part of me in every sim I create though. Maybe not looks or personality but I'm in there somewhere.
