- I was tempted to hit other because none of the options were quite right, but felt like that was waffling.
So I didn't ever try to make myself as a sim, from the first time I started playing, but over time, realized there was some vicarious sentiment going on in some cases and not others. Eventually I tried making a simself, but it just seemed really awkward somehow. I could relate less well with it, than with sims I had accidentally started relating with.
I can see people playing a Simself aspirationally, like trying to role-play themselves as they would like to be, their best selves. But in order to do that you have to be able to make a Sim you feel represents you in a good way, and I never had any success at that. - SharoooniaNew SpectatorI don't like myself enough to make a sim self.

What it says in the title, do you play as your Simself? Feel free to comment why you do or don't.
No but I do have a version of him in every save file I create. It's cool to see supernatural me, cowboy me, future me it's like a being in costume each save file ahha. but I generally never play with them and leave them to their own devices "GrimlyFiendish;c-18108818" wrote:
I don't play as my Simself, never have and never will, and to be honest I've never even considered trying to. I get why some people do, I especially get if you're part of the rainbow that is LGBTQIA & playing as your Simself gives you a chance to express a part of yourself that you otherwise might not feel able, or safe to express (and go the Simself for that reason alone). I also think that the Sims should be a great big melting pot of creation, where each individual can play as they choose. Having said all that though, I am an almost 50 year old, semi disabled, chronically ill woman with a low grade cancer diagnosis; I could play as my Simself as is right now, but why would I want to? Or, I could create a younger, healthier, more fabulous version of myself, but the moment I step back into the real world I'm still going to be an almost 50 year old, semi disabled, chronically ill woman with a low grade cancer diagnosis, so to me it kind of defeats my purpose of playing the Sims as an escape before I have to head back into the real world and deal with real world stuff. That's just me though, I get that there are many types of Simmers and everyone should have the right to play as they want. :)
The LGBTQIA element is the genesis of my living through my sim, has been since I started with TS3. I guess I just had the right sim, at the right time, and the right story to create that bond that became a sort of simself.- atreya33Seasoned AceI played as my simself when I first started playing in the sims 1 era. My first sim in the sims 2 was a simself and when this sim became an elder and was nearing death I freaked out and told myself never again. And this is not because of the old age itself but because this sims life was done, complete and over, with fictional husband and adoptive daughter. I could no longer say 'this is virtual me' but also couldn't let go as I can with other sims because this sim once was me.
Now I often go for sims that have some resemblance to me when it comes to appearance and traits, but they are not me. Besides they start as a single without children which I like as a starting point. a simself of me now would be incomplete without spouse and children. The sims I play are characters in a story. And most of the time magical characters because why not... They live the magical and supernatural life that I can't do in real life. - mightyspritesimsSeasoned HotshotI made the sim in my avatar picture to take a few pictures, but I don't play as her, and I named her Mighty Sprite instead of my real name. Also this game has no hair quite as ridiculous as my hair but I got as close as I could :)
Some of the characters in my San Myshuno game have developed in ways where I feel like they're alternative versions of how my life could have gone. They're different from each other but we have certain similarities. I end up identifying with them a lot, but it would be weird if they also looked like me or had the exact same family configuration that I do. - DoloresGreySeasoned NewcomerI used to play as my simself all the time when I was a teenager. Then I got married and had a child and obviously I did that in my game as well but my daughter had a miserable life in sims and I hated that and I said never ever again.
- ChaoticMoiraNew SpectatorIn every generation of The Sims I have populated my town the same way.
I make myself, I make everyone I am close to, then I make a bunch sims based on fictional characters I am into (past, or present at the time). I generally don't play any of them. I mainly do this so that when townies show up and interact with the sims that I do play, they are townies I like to see. "Oooh Moira just popped into the festival, wait, wth are you doing woman!!!" Hehe.. I just can't get myself to care about randomly spawned townies. They are just set pieces to me. But seeing little sims that I recognize in some way grabs my attention and amuses me.
As I said, I generally never play them, but there are a few exceptions when an idea strikes for a fictional character. Like I had The Winchesters (Supernatural) in my Sims 3 game as the Ghost Hunters, cause it amused me to do so. I have never played myself, or anyone who I know in real life. Although I do tell my husband I have a little version of him locked in a dungeon, and that I am going to go torture him. - SamXNE_997Seasoned NoviceLong story short, the feeling that my Simself is living a better life than me alone just doesn't sit quite well with me.
- SweetieWright_84New SpectatorI made myself, my husband, and our kids in TS3 and played them until my kids were adults. It felt weird to me to play us, especially when my husband's and my sims died. What I found pretty funny is one of my simself's grand-daughters looked almost identical to my niece. I didn't think my simself looked anything like me but I guess maybe she did.
Now, I prefer to play sims who aren't based off of any real world people. I do feel like there is a part of me in every sim I create though. Maybe not looks or personality but I'm in there somewhere.
