Does anyone else think the maid is pointless now?

Does anyone else think that maids are pointless in the sims 4? I don't know about your experience with them but I find that they rarely show up, they don't put leftovers in the fridge, they walk in on...

I only hired a maid once, and after a week of no cleaning they just stopped showing up. Never hired another.
I really, really miss the repairman though, especially in a house with 2+ kids there is broken plumbing every other day.
