Prehaps this is why. If this isn't the reason for your crash then you need to let them know at this link

I'm getting an error related to receiving degrees. This patch didn't fix that.
Then you might want to post in the link I put above.- DeKaythePUNK6 years agoLegendYikes, all these bugs make it seem like DU is unplayable at this point. (I don't have DU by the way.)

I think I will hold off downloading this patch. I keep seeing issues with it.
I was going to do that but it's a "required" update so basically our choices are download the patch, or don't play at all until there is another patch. :( Ugh! I am sick of forced updates because of how it affects mods. - mariefoxprice836 years agoSeasoned AceOk, that's not good. I downloaded the update and logged into the game as I have a little free time before work this morning. Newcrest, where I placed all 3 of my current households, has vanished!
What can I do?
EDIT - apparently something went wrong during the update but repairing the game has put it back to normal. - Simmerville6 years agoLegend

Yupp, but are all those simmers who don't experience bugs posting? Nope :) I believe many of the complainers do have CC or mods they are not aware of, or think are ok, so they did not try the pack with a clean install yet.
Still, a bit buggy yes. I don't have the pack yet either, but hoping to get it very soon. - Simmerville6 years agoLegend

You are not forced to install patches right away. I often work on video projects with a set deadline, so whenever there is a patch while I want completing my ongoing project before adding the patch, I just wait. After starting Origin, I set it to offline mode. Then start the game from my desktop icon, instead of from Origin. This way I also can avoid bugs introduced by patches, and there's also plenty time to get my mods updated. - mariefoxprice836 years agoSeasoned Ace

I thought patches were optional, but when I loaded Origin for an early morning session, I got the message that it was a required update. I didn't think about starting offline to be honest, because I panicked about the entire thing. All I wanted was to play a little as I had to wait for a doctor's appointment and had time to kill before I left.
I will have to try putting the game in offline mode another time though. I leave it on in case I want to use the gallery. - ReflectedLite6 years agoRising Hotshot

For example, you have Save A and you do a save as and call it Save B. But then the patch corrupts both Save A and Save B. You won't be able to use them anymore.
The game cannot corrupt Save A since you only used it to load and immediately created Save B.
Loading a save doesn't change it. Saving over top of it does.
So while I get the common "backup your saves" you might hear from a game company, it really means I'd think twice before saving over top of your pre-patch saves and thereby losing the save you had pre-patch. One way to avoid saving over top of them is just create a new save immediately and only use this new one.
Now if someone is playing multiple different versions of stories through multiple unique save files, it's probably easier to just back up your save folder rather than risk forgetting to make a new "save as" for each unique story line save you have, until you're sure the patch hasn't messed up the game (and hence messed up any new saves files created / overwritten after the patch).
Whenever there's a patch, I tend to do a "save-as" immediately to start a new save file in case the patch ends up having issues then later delete previous one when it's clear I no longer need it.
Thanks for the response.
