Everything to do with Weddings

I’ve had plenty of sims weddings, and if there’s any advice I can give it’d be to make the cake and put the topper on a couple of hours before the wedding. This way if you don’t want to hire a caterer, you don’t have to miss out on cake!!

I love a good Sim wedding! I once hosted a wedding where two of the guests died halfway through. I wasn't too hung up on the storyline for that particular couple so the deaths made for a hilarious interval... but I would always advise saving a back up of your game before going into a big event like a wedding in case the unexpected strikes!

My favourite wedding moment was my sim marrying a townie and after we done the vows... started to do the rounds, taking photos and being good "hosts".... his mother DIES! (at least she saw her only kid get married)

So glad that hasn’t only happened to me! I had a sim wedding ages back and the bride’s mum died while they were exchanging vows. Kinda a downer, but the fireworks made everyone feel better!

I had my Sim get pregnant with her fiancé. Before the bump would show up, I made them have the wedding. Beautiful. Neighborhood sweethearts. It took place at the Von Haunt Estate. Should've been foreshadowing...

Now, I was playing my game on a laptop and while the loading screens take a bit longer than they should, it's tolerable. However, on this day...the loading screen took a solid four minutes and when I had my Sims return to their home? The husband was missing.

Yep. He disappeared from the household. I hoped it was a glitch, something to do with split and merge, but impossible. He died while I was waiting to load up the house. Took me some time to finally find his urn. Cause of death? Laughter. Poor dude had a blast. At least he had fun :( He was in the comedian career and had the goofball trait. Therefore, my advice is to refrain from having that combination to avoid a hysterical death in your Sims wedding, resulting in a widowed parent.

Although my Sim didn't have to raise her child on her own completely, since I didn't release the ghost husband off to the netherworld. (I know I could've attempted to bring him back with ambrosia, but I wanted to keep the tragedy in the story.)

I also always cook the cake and put on the topper before the wedding.

I tried to take photos and everyone was frowning or proper bottom lipping - I was so annoyed! I wish I had had city living back then to do that :')

Oh wow -- that's so funny how many people's sims died during weddings!! The weirdest thing I had happen was that Malcom Landgraab decided to show up to a wedding in his underwear. Thanks for posting some good tips, too, you guys. Here's one of my tips:

If the game changes your sim into some ugly wedding dress and you can't stop it, as soon as the vows are done, immediately change into the clothes you want and then renew your vows. Then you can get good pictures of the "wedding."

my advice? whatever you do, don't hire a caterer. you can't move the food platters away from wherever the caterer sets them down, which is a dealbreaker for me personally. if that doesn't bother you, of course, hire caterers, but it's so much easier in my opinion to have your sim cook some food before the wedding, put it in their inventory and then put it out for people to eat.

i also always make my own wedding venues so that i can have weddings exactly how i want them

Like others have said....a great tip is having the wedding cake prepared before the wedding. The caterer doesn't really work like they should in my game. Another tip is try to get people seated when they attend the wedding if they're active/in your household. The wedding musical chairs is still happening as well as them not staying seated. I always try to get my Sims to sit way before the wedding begins & then once it starts click 'attend wedding' and they stay seated.
