Failing School... So What?

Is there any real punishment for failing school in The Sims 4? I suppose children could get taken by the social worker like in previous games but what about teens? Is there any real drawback to failing? Do they get shipped off to military school or taken by the social worker or anything like that? My heiress is close to failing but since Pinstar's legacy challenge doesn't list any penalties for failing school, I'm inclined to just let her fail and focus on her aspiration instead if nothing truly awful is going to happen to her if she fails.

not much happens, but check out that thread

you could cheat to boost the grades so when they transition they start jobs higher
  • So basically I should make sure kids maintain their C average but teens can get away with F with no penalties? Awesome, thanks! :) No more school for Alyssa, she's dropping out to be a lounge musician lol!

If you want them to start on a higher level in a job, make sure they have an A average.

You can always let your kid stay home and CHEAT

open the cheat box - testingcheats true - Careers.promote Gradeschool or Careers.promote Highschool
gives your kid a raise of one grade letter each time
so let your kid run free and then cheat them up to an A

  • I am desperate for help. I didn't know that not sending your kids to school resulted in them being taken away by the social worker due to Neglect. I was having my children skip school all the time because I'm using my sims to make a video series and I needed the children available for filming. For the past three hours, I've been trying to get their grades up by doing homework and school projects and sending them to school because I was getting the warning that they were going to be taken away. Nothing has worked. My sim daughter has been taken away four times. I saved when I got the first warning and didn't save again that way I could just go into the main menu and re-load the game so that the child was never taken away. Each time, the game only gave me two days to get her grades up and no matter what I did she was still taken away. I grow very attached to my children, to all my sims, and I am about to burst into tears if I can't save her. I've been raising her since she was a baby. I tried the cheat I saw on this website, tried it in many different ways- no spaces, no caps, some caps, some spaces- but it just didn't work, the child's grades are the exact same. Please help me save my Sim daughter. It would really kill me to lose her. In the Sims 3, I didn't have to worry about school, I would just delete the school in edit town, so I didn't know that the social worker was going to come after my Sim daughter in the sims 4. I thought all that would happen is she would be embarrassed about her bad grades.
  • @Ihavefattoddlers if you have MCC there is an option to let other family adopt neglected child, find that family and befriend them until ask to move in is available, and steal your child from them. But If you didnt have MCC...
  • @ihavefattoddlers Children can be moved to other households via manage households but I'm unsure how that would solve the problem if you wish to keep the children in the family? They wouldn't disappear fully but stay in the neighbourhood. Do they have any vacation days left? Would it help to have some extra time to work on those school projects? Also make sure she goes to school with full needs and happy/focused mood.
  • This is why I need active school for teens and kids! There is no reward or consequence for education! Thats honestly ridiculous. Many many years are spent at school , so to not have that be a vital part of our sims lives feels wrong and like a lot is missing.
  • I do wish it was like Sims 2? Where you could invite over the headmaster to get into private school, or be shipped off to military school. I think you could go to boarding school in the Sims 3 if I'm correct...TBH shipped some of the kids off when there were too many sims to take care of in the household
  • I've never had this happen. But I do have an idea of something to try since you aren't opposed to cheating. You might want to rename your Save before you try this in case anything goes wrong. You can always play your original Save if needed.

Put on "testingcheats enabled" in the Cheat Window (Press Ctrl Shift C) and after it says Cheats are enabled, type in "CAS.fulleditmode", both without the quotation marks. Go into to CAS before she gets taken away, and age her down to a Toddler. Go back into the game. Work on increasing all her Toddler Skills to the max levels. She will then have the Top Notch Toddler reward trait. Go ahead and Age her back up with a birthday cake. (You might want to turn Aging off in the Game Settings so that her siblings and parents stay the same age while you complete the Toddler Skills.) Then check and see what her grade is, and if aging down and back up may have reset it to a C or higher.

I hope you didn't give up yet, and if not, good luck!
