Fed Up With Issues
Whichever SimGuru comes upon this thread and just "moves" it to the shadows of the forum, please just read it first. Pass it along to the head honchos at EA. This stuff matters to the players includin...

The Ai is a BIG problem in this game, an example is: a toddler who's starving that grab a plate of food and climb the stairs to eat on the bedroom chair, it takes her a lot of time, when there is a chair right in the kitchen for her, perfectly usable as she used it in the past. The reason she does this is because the cat is sleeping in the bedroom. And this is not even a bug, this is by plum design.
Simply remove the problem - which is apparently the bedroom chair. Problem solved - the tot will use the closer chair. Or maybe lock the cat out of her bedroom - attraction gone.
I really hope that was more of a joke because it's not a good solution - It's just an annoying workaround. Because it basically means your pets and other Sims always need to be in the room where Sims are supposed to eat and you can't have any other comfort items anywhere (not even beds).
No it is not a real solution for people who get those issues. Keep in mind not every one gets all these issues - so I dispute it is simply an AI problem other wise I would have those problems too. You can't change an AI because some computers apparently have configure issues with the AI that all computers do not have. The computers with issues either need to be re-cognfigured - which depend on your skill at doing that or a simple solution - change the article of contention - the cat or the chair.
After all these years of Sims games we go through this with every rendition of the game - where there is always some pcs that play flawless with the game and some won't get along at all - it all come down to configurations in variants in different pcs and finding with the right match - I've been lucky Sims 2, 3 and Sims 4 - flawless mostly (helps - hubby an amazing pc tech who is a whiz at recognfiguring my pc to exact specifications needed 99 percent of the time) - had issues in sims 2 with Securum and certain high end Intel Duo pcs especially if that pc ran one of he Nortons anti virus programs (that one hat had that unstable scanner system in it) - finally through in the towel went back to AMC Asus super computer gaming desktop - no more problem. It's just the way it always is - there is no way with all the types of pc configs there are out there -all will ever work flawlessly with all game programming. PCs are not identical consoles and why there will be issues s long as players do not know how to recognfigure their own pc to make them work as the game is designed. Maybe buy the exact system the devs use to make the game - if you can't do that - can't re-cognfigure your own system to match - then you find a work around - because chances are the broken issues is for the least number of systems - not the majority. When it is the majority - that is a real bug and then Maxis can fix it because the majority of machine would have broken games - but less than that you are better off finding a work around instead of just having a hissy fit or waiting for ever. It's not a joke - it is a way to play your game without pulling your hair out completely.
I admit I have no clue about programing games, but shouldn't the behavior of NPC/AI be unrelated to your computer specs? I understand that some glitches can happen when you barely have the minimum requirements for a game, but the behavior of Sims should always stay the same.
To me it seems more like people have different methods of playing and building, and that's why some of us constantly get certain bugs or annoying Sim behavior while others like you apparently don't. There are enough players out there who have the newest hardware and they get the same bugs as people who have some older low-budget computer (including the weird behavior of the Sims).
