Huh. Those patch notes don't say anything about even one glitch I have going on right now. And my new save went totally sideways last night. There was a thunder and lightning storm during which the cat disappeared several times in a row, even after giving him napnip which will usually calm all felines during a storm, the lightning struck two garden sprinklers, then the garden reset and every plant reverted back into a mound of dirt. Sooo, I have to wonder if the weather update to include acid rain and the different air quality effects is doing a lot more than intended. But since I turned off all of the eco stuff, I don't get why the effects are still impacting this save. Except maybe it isn't turning off the effects entirely. Bits and pieces are being left on and are actively running in the background. Even with the voting turned off, Knox and Bess were harassing my Sim every day with phone calls and visits. I finally booted them out of the save. I get the pop ups every Monday with the message that one of the NAPs has been voted in but when I check the board nothing shows up for that NAP and all the options are greyed out which means the board is inactive.
And the worst part is I cannot find the cat anywhere. His portrait is greyed out and I cannot call him back using that method this time. I tried travelling after choosing to travel with the cat but he never showed up at the destination, nor was he at the home lot when I had my Sim go back home. Taking them into CAS doesn't help either. I can change his collar and all, but he isn't on the lot when I exit CAS. What has my curiosity piqued, is other players who installed the update but didn't buy EL, are having the same issues we are with pets and gardening. Something wasn't done properly in that pre-ep update, and we're paying the price for their mistake. I went so far as to lock the cat out of the bathrooms because he was always standing next to the tub meowing. I could barely play with him because of his obsession with bathroom objects, and he was disappearing while in the bathroom over half of the times he did disappear off-lot. He has gone missing in the middle of playing with a toy, while sitting on the kitchen counters, while eating and while being pampered on the couch. There isn't a pattern as to why they disappear. It's a random event that is being triggered by something running in the background. The only commonality seems to be the weather changes. The pets disappear more often during rain storms and electrical storms in my saves. I don't know if this is true for everyone, but I have noticed it in my game. Once I am able to retrieve Ringo, the MIA cat, I will be turning off the weather effects through Game Options. At this point I am not feeling confident this will help, but who knows, right?
I apologize for getting a bit personal in my last post. The COVID-19 issues have been a pain in the rear to deal with, and it has to be even more difficult for you with little ones. We have already been through him being quarantined in the rv after a business trip he took in February. The last thing either one of us wanted to go through was being separated again. Yet here we are. So I guess it's a good thing I have this game to help keep me sane. LOL Even though that isn't quite true at the moment with our pets being abducted by unknown sources for unknown reasons. :/
