I had never played a sims game before. I had played lots and lots of sims city, so I thought it was pretty much the same. Set some stuff up and let it run and then I noticed the sim doing stuff on his own. Cool, I thought, so I let go of the mouse and leaned back to watch the sim - ooo, look he's cooking....
Well, when he caught fire, I didn't know there was extinguish and all that so I just helplessly watched as my new sim burned to death - Game Over
OMG, Sim City is the reason I didn't get into the Sims until Sims 4. I used to try and play Sims City back in the 90s, and I was hopeless at it, and endlessly frustrated that it didn't just let me build whatever I wanted to build - museums, libraries, schools, houses, no roads, no electricity, no train lines (I mean who needed roads, electricity and goods and services when you had museums and libraries). I thought the Sims itself looked interesting when Sims 1 released, but I had horrid memories of yelling at my console/computer to 'god dannit just let me build the city I want' with Sims City that I side eyed the game hard for years. :D
