How do you adopt a stray?

I’ve got this problem too! My relationship isn’t at 100 yet but they are well over being good friends. I’ve offered friendship a lot and done the share the love interaction as well..

Yup. That's what I ended up doing.

I was able to adopt with one family but unable to with another. I thought it was a bit odd but I wanted the cat to be part of the family so I went into manage worlds and added him into the household. I'm wondering why I was able to with one family but not another but at least there is a work around.

Took me awhile to build up the relationship with the stray before I got the "adopt" option on the interaction menu.

The strays are strange... My vet sim treats other sims pets ... Then sees said pets as strays! Sometimes with the cone of shame still on! Then next time I see them they aren't stray and I've missed the chance to adopt! Its very annoying!

I have a lot of trouble with strays getting adopted right before I adopt them, so make sure that isn't happening

I had this too, and I wanted to adopt a stray cat. In the end, the easiest way to do it, is to type into the cheat bar, testingcheats true
and it will say cheats on. Then shift click the pet you want and add it to family. Hope this works!

I was just friendly with a cat for a few minutes then I came up with the option. I haven't managed it to come up for any dogs yet though.

It’s kind of a bug. Usually you should adopt a stray when you randomly bump into them, but if you call them
over or kind a force a meeting with them , they won’t show up as strays.
I personally haven’t had this issue, but that’s because I have adopted strays pretty quickly

hold down shift and right click and their should be a option to “add to family”
