How do you adopt a stray?

I adopted a stray in the beach so you don't need to bring them home necessarily. The option was there after I clicked on something like "offer friendship".

I've been trying this too, with no luck so far :(

Well we are friends and I offered friendship and did the share the love interaction and still no option to adopt. This is the only problem I've come across so far.

Some cats give you the option a lot sooner than others. The cat you are speaking of though , I don't know what's wrong in it's case, It should have let you adopt by now. Good luck.

I gave up and ( with testingcheats on ) right clicked on him and added to household.

Yup. That's what I ended up doing.

I was able to adopt with one family but unable to with another. I thought it was a bit odd but I wanted the cat to be part of the family so I went into manage worlds and added him into the household. I'm wondering why I was able to with one family but not another but at least there is a work around.

As far as I understand things, which therefore can be wrong, there's a period during which strays remain stray. After that, they're merged with a randomly generated sim as part of their household.

In my case, it popped up after a looooooong time. But when it did, it popped up RIGHT after I clicked him, not in 'Friendly', 'Mischief', or 'Mean' section.
