The sim I'm playing had A+ in all of his classes this past semester. I have him majoring in a subject where I beefed up his skills beforehand. I am also having him build skills in electives. Sometimes that seems to help. I had him doing an elective in rocket science while one of his core classes was in astrophysics. That might have helped the boost.
I haven't had him do as much regular studying, focusing more on completing the tasks. Per advice on here, I also got him to level 3 in the research skill, so he is completing assignments faster. I think it is realistic. He is getting more competent and organized while his classmates who goofed off fell behind.
I kind of like that the grades aren't completely predictable or easy. It might not be totally realistic that he went from failing high school to straight As but I said that he just needed the right teachers and a subject that really interests him.
