How do you know how much to study?

How do I know how much my Sim needs to study in order to get A+ on their finals? It feels like no matter how much they study or submit homework on time/presentations/exams/etc. and no matter how much they "listen attentively" and "take notes" they always manage to fail at at least one exam and get a B or something. I always get notifications how they put in a good effort, but other students seem to be learning more and bla bla, you probably already know what pop up I am talking about.
I don't understand what I am doing wrong.

I am playing with a sim who strives to be an overachiever, and is a nerd, but it's hard to make a believable story in that fashion when she continuously keeps getting Bs despite putting in TONS of effort into her courses.

  • Make sure you only choose take notes when you go to class. Studying is ?‍♀️ because you can get good grades without it. Get the faster homework mod, gets done in 10 minutes, you could knock out all 4 classes in 40 (in game time, RL it’s like 5-10). Get your presentation and term papers done early as well. And for the love of all things holy, UTILIZE THE WEEKEND! I know it sucks, but it helps. Keg stand on Saturday and study group on Sunday lol.

Honest answer? I don't know. I just do as much as I can, leaving time out to do fun stuff too.

Hehehe, this reminds of myself back in college. Although, I almost never had time for fun stuff, maybe only Saturday night. Gah, all your comments make me want to have the pack in my hands right now, only a few more days for me to go!

That is so true! I have to admit I was quite shocked how much the whole experience reminded me of my own college experience, especially since I was able to enroll my Sim in Language and Literature (I majored in Eng. Lang. & Literature myself). It really is a well fleshed out pack. I only wish there were at least some classes that are more hands on and interactive, but there are others things I enjoyed so much, It didn't bother me to as much as I'd thought it would.
  • The sim I'm playing had A+ in all of his classes this past semester. I have him majoring in a subject where I beefed up his skills beforehand. I am also having him build skills in electives. Sometimes that seems to help. I had him doing an elective in rocket science while one of his core classes was in astrophysics. That might have helped the boost.

I haven't had him do as much regular studying, focusing more on completing the tasks. Per advice on here, I also got him to level 3 in the research skill, so he is completing assignments faster. I think it is realistic. He is getting more competent and organized while his classmates who goofed off fell behind.

I kind of like that the grades aren't completely predictable or easy. It might not be totally realistic that he went from failing high school to straight As but I said that he just needed the right teachers and a subject that really interests him.
