At one point I overworked my sims by making them work hard and take on a monetized skill for the purpose of building wealth fast. Then I realized that is no way to live, so I am taking a more leisurely approach to the game. I send my sims to restaurants and parks more. That is realistic. I Also don't use money cheat codes.
