- alanmichael15 years agoSeasoned AceIf you have the knitting pack and let your children knit, emotional control is now the easiest trait of all.
The fastest way to raise empathy is to constantly make gifts to other Sims. It doesn't matter if they like them. Just give them all the trash from your inventory. - DaWaterRat5 years agoSeasoned Ace

Simple. If children asks for advice, don't worry about manners and responsibility. It's easy to gain back. Emotional control is also easy with journals and new interactions to lower negative emotions. Empathy can be increased with doctor playset, volunteering, and by having the child talk about emotions and comfort sims with negative emotions. Conflict resolution is easy in toddlerhood and childhood.
Tips on getting negative traits.
Manners can be lowered by shouting forbitten words, farting, and belching.
Resposibility can be lowered by having bad grades, breaking curfew and grounding, and quitting and getting fired from part-time jobs.
Emotional control can be lowered with yelling, crying (self-interaction), throwing tantrums, and showing sims.
Conflict resolution can be lowered with arguing, fighting, and making enemies.
Empathy can be lowered with insults, making fun of negative emotions, and hitting stuffed animals.
I think Empathy is the hardest one to increase... I'm experiencing now. LOL
I find the most effective way to increase empathy, apart from chance cards, is to ensure the child has no toys but the doctor playset. You can also have them choose the "discuss mood" interaction on sims in a negative moodlet.
As a side note, if they do play with the doctor playset a lot as a kid, and then you have them actually become a doctor, they get a bonus moodlet for following their childhood dreams. I only saw it once, so I don't remember specifics. Just something fun I noticed. "Jeansoo;c-17620571" wrote:

Get the journal to raise emotional control. EC+Empathy is easier if you have twins (or siblings born soon after another) - so when one gets teen mood swing, just spam the 'supportive' conversation options (raises empathy) then have the afflicted teen write in the journal (EC) and have a parent near to encourage both ASAP.
When you get the pop-ups, always take a hit for responsibility (can be brought up with homework+praise) or manners (just set the table or wash the dishes) if possible, because you can bring them back up easily.
Sorry but what's EC? O,O? Yes now I'm having 3 teens. :D I have a young adult male sim and he adopted 3 babies, and he looked after them, they are now all teens. :) I experienced the mood swing about 15 mins ago. I couldn't do anything because the daddy sim was staying at work when he brought that mood swing from school. I let him use the punching bag for relieving his anger. It worked. The time reduced to 4 hrs from 8 hrs. then his daddy sim got back home, and the anger has gone when he talked about the anger problem. Maybe daddy sim needs to find another sim to get married. so that they can get helped from mommy sim. :D
By EC, I meant Emotional Control. I was too lazy to type it again... sorry for the confusion.
Also, you can do the talking between individual teens, that way you can help both at once. And yes, various items can help with individual moods. You can talk to any other sim about the current mood, use the journal, jog it out (not recommended unless you have a reason to raise fitness, they go on way too long a jog and return stinking, requiring further time to get them to normal). Mirror can be used for some.- aodoherty5 years agoSeasoned Ace@TomasGrizzly
Thanks a lot. I can try that interaction between 2 teens next time. :D - Sketch7935 years agoSeasoned AceSpend 500 reward points on Gym Rat and they won't come back stinking after a jog any longer. (Unless they were already stinking of course.)
- aodoherty5 years agoSeasoned AceThank you for the great tips all here. A few days ago, all the teen sims are split from their parent sims each household. I gathered all the 7 teens in the new house. Now they are living without any parents or adult sims, I experienced very hard to control their mood swings everyday. 4 of them are vampires..even.. 2 of them has tamed thirst perk, so they are ok with enraged mood swing but the other 2 are still on master level.
Yesterday, my teens brought Darling and Sophia on the way home from school. One of the master teen vampire got the enraged mood swing. He drank his housemate Theodore's neck uncontrollably, after that, he was doing a homework himself, suddenly, he stood up! He ran in light speed..(from fast walk perk), then he drank all the plasma from Darling who lives in San Mychuno.
OMG...!! I was really panic. He was on the way of Good Vampire aspirations. I had to think..!! They definitely needed parents.. But I didn't want to send them back to their home. I needed a sim who completed soul mate aspiration and can let them stay in 'an object' when they are not controllable. I added the virtuoso wizard sim who completed the soulmate aspiration before. Now this wizard young adult sim could give the master vampire sim a good word about the mood swing but...had no chance. When I clicked play button, the master vamp sim started to mesmerize my wizard sim to drink uncontrollably again. So I moved my wizard sim to other lot for a while, then came back. He used 'try to calm down', then the master vampire sim became very happy. Just before trying to calm down, he had 5 hours of enraged mood swing was left but after that, it has gone straightaway. I learned they definitely need adult sims at home. phewww.. This wizard sim will be a great tutor too. He has all 13 degrees from the universities. He can help while the teens are learning the skills. Yesterday, this master vamp sim drank 3 sims in total.. Of course, his thirst bar has been full until next morning time.

For my kids, responsibility and manners are maxed. But it's not easy to increase emotional control and Empathy. I couldn't tell them eating dirt is fun. Go ahead..like this. Also I always do to my kid in real life as well. Is there any tip for increasing these 2 with manner and responsibility? Thanks.
@Jeansoo you encourage your real life children to eat dirt?

On the other hand, I try to get them to have negative values, but they always do the opposite.
Yes, it is so much harder to earn the negative traits. - moneser6 months agoNew Traveler
You didn't mention the fifth one, conflict resolution. Child sims have a "teach to say sorry" parenting option; they can also "rewind with classical" on a radio.
For responsibility, I always have the child sims watering/weeding one they have mental skill 5. wonderful them and my garden!
