How To Keep Worlds Alive?

Before I used MCCC, I just manually paired Sims up through Manage Households. I used the cas.fulleditmode cheat to marry them, and then used the "play with genetics" option in CAS to give them kids.
It can be really time consuming so honestly MCCC is worth it just for that (story progression is the only reason I have MCCC installed).

Only ways I can think of to do it without mods is to either:

manually go through the world and pair sims up and use genetics to give them babies, like @howGreatthouArt indicated.

Play a lot of different households actively so that the pairing and baby-making happens through active play (basically play rotationally).

I stop by every household on rotation. I have all settings that would allow EA automatically to touch my game turned off. I want no surprises like story progression or random stuff like my favorite family "had to leave this region in a hurry".

When it comes to adding a new generation, I use a dice. All couples will normally have 1 child, then I'll use the dice to decide whether they should have more. Those families I don't play much might not even have beds for their kids, they are more like background fillers, I'll only deal with births, birthdays and graves.

I do use MCCC for story progression, but I also like to have sim families around for my main family to interact with (I play one household generationally). So I do a lot of deleting households from manage worlds, and moving in households from the gallery that have sims of the right age. So, if I'm at a point where I have children and I want them to have friends, I delete all the families that I don't interact with and that don't have children, and replace them all. I'm quite ruthless with making sims homeless!! :#

I never even thought of doing that! I was imagining having to build up relationships in game lol. That would make things much easier, thanks x

I do have MCCC, although there was one time when I placed a background sim (it was Commander Shepard) and MCCC married him off. He was close to being an elder and they still didn't have kids, so I went into CAS, aged them down, and gave them a toddler so that they won't die out.

There was also another time when my sim's husband had a sister that I didn't want to keep around in the house, so I married her off to Alexander Goth and let them have a kid. When the kid was born, I moved them out and let MCCC do the rest.

Otherwise, I just let MCCC do the work and I intervene if it's someone I find interesting.

Heh. I play aging off across the board. I don't care about progressing them in terms of them marrying or having kids. I rotate to who I want to rotate to play when I choose to.

I honestly don't want any type of "story progression" in my game because this is my story and my game. All the sims I create and place don't intertwine just to make families or get old and die.

It may seem an odd way to play to some, but I think it's more fun for me to have all my sims living in this world and living a dream and expanding their horizons ( as content that suits them comes out).

It's fantasy. It's fun. It's dreams I'll never see irl.

Before MCCC I would do it all through manage households. I'd make CAS kids by playing with genetics and I'd make random couples. It kept my towns going quite well.

Edit: Plus without mods to control townie generation, enough new townies would be generated to keep things from dying off completely and those can add new blood to the existing gene pool.

I'm sure most players aren't playing their favorite Sims/families that way.
