I Don't Care How Slow The Toddler Is, Let Him EAT!

My Sims' baby just aged up to Toddler, so, he's still finding his 'sea-legs', as it were. It took some doing for the little tyke to scoot down the staircase and then more effort, hangry as he was, to get to the kitchen. The Mac & Cheese was sitting on the counter, so he could grab a serving. His uncles were all huddled in the kitchen, grown men, and then I saw the EMPTY plate. Okay, big guys, why didn't you leave some for your little nephew, eh? So sorry, the kid was struggling to get there, and you just couldn't resist? You say, Mac & Cheese is your comfort food? Too bad, that's hardly an excuse to let your wee nephew starve. I will remind each of you that you live in your brother's house rent free …
  • Yeah, that sounds pretty harsh of his uncles. It’s not really like you can forget there’s a toddler in the house, they’re noisy little things!
  • They deserve a chewing out that leaves them feeling about an inch tall, if they were lucky and mom was feeling merciful.?

I’m so with you on this one. It’s aggravating to be sure. That’s why I started putting the dish in my toddler’s inventory when my adult is finished cooking until my lil ones gets theirs first. Sometimes the house guests were in on it. Also, if you shift click and reset the offending sim they will drop the plate on the floor.( Oh no you don’t mister.) Then grab it and put it in your todd’s inventory. The others can wait. There’s nothing meaner than a hangry toddler.

The one that annoys me is once you've put the toddler in the highchair, the toddler calls to be let out as the parent is getting food for them.

I have literally yelled at the screen "sit and eat!"

I like your thinking! One of the uncles is a Senior Resident, too. He ought to understand by now, just how important nutrition is to a tyke.
  • I don’t usually use high chairs. I remember I once put a few living chairs in the kitchen/dining room so toddlers could sit in the same room rather than go off elsewhere.
It’s lucky that toddlers develop the Movement skill pretty quickly. If they live in a multi-storey house and they’re still on level one so can’t climb stairs, it can be annoying if the food’s on one floor and the toddler is on the other.
Toddlers being able to help themselves to food is pretty useful.
  • I decided to do an experiment. Originally, we only got the chicken nuggets with a high chair on the lot, so I checked to see for myself if this was true, since others said it was changed. Well, I didn't have to go to phase two of my experiment. The chicken nuggets were, indeed, available even though I had removed the high chair from the lot.

I will no longer bother with it. I did have a platter of food on the counter and had the Mom call to meal. Jamison, the Toddler, was on his way, albeit slowly, down the stairs. Yes, they live in a two-story house. The high chair in this instance wasn't the problem. It was the Young Adult uncles who, apparently were half-starved themselves, who finished off a platter of food just placed there after cooking. Should have been 8 servings. Eight! Talk about glutony.
