I've only grown them to fulfill the Freelance Botanist aspiration and then immediately delete them. I don't like them either, they're creepy! o.O I will admit the one time I kept one just to see what all the fuss was about, I forgot about it and when it died the skeleton was pretty cool.
I can only see myself planting/growing another one for the skeleton on a creepy, haunted/gothic lot or perhaps a cemetery. Might be fun to put one in those test tube things Scientists get too. Could pretend it's the remains of an alien from another planet or something. :)
So in conclusion, I can't really think of a reason for you not to hate them since I don't like them myself except after they're dead for decoration. :p
