From what was shown and described in the livestream, having the baby start out in the bassinet is still a good thing. We
can take them out of it. As the baby gets older, there's tummy time to be had. Eventually the wee tyke will start sitting up, crawling and eventually pull themselves onto their wee feet using an ottoman. It's a more natural progression toward Toddlerhood. I think we will all know better after they drop. In the meantime, I think we should stave off the case of the 'I'm not happy about this' syndrome. You may be wildly pleased in the end.

Probably because there are babies in existence in some player saves and to prevent any chances from completely ruining the save. It’s probably easier to add the new lifestage
You do make a good point there. However, the Infants
are a new life stage. A Sim we can create in CAS. They spring (sort of) from the bassinet in due time (which has been shortened from the normal duration) more like they float out of it to a very soft landing. I'm excited for this. I may even finish getting my chosen family ready and then wait until GT drops so that I can be certain my new Infant will achieve the new Milestones, as another player suggested. (I'm thinking, it may even be possible for the baby to be born, to save and then exit from there. we'll see.
