I also think that the next game has started production recently. There’s no reason to bring out a specific time frame if there’s no planned end to the current title. 3+ years is the equivalent of saying this game will be around for at least 3 years, plus more time if we aren’t ready to show off the next title. I could be wrong, but the wording implies that 3 years is the second wave much like the first wave which lasted 4 years.
They’ve always had a rolling 3-year plan. Grant’s comment doesn’t tell us anything new besides they don’t currently have a plan to end the game (within a specific time frame).

Also I doubt TS5 is in production. Maybe in pre-production as games can spend a long time in this period. The actual production period doesn’t last very long and it’s too early to start now. Given the recent layoffs they likely need to hire more devs for TS5 to be in full production too.
Oh have they? Well this is the first they’ve discussed that, so my apologies to you.
Also, neither of us know what the staffing looks like at Maxis so it’s really up to you for what you want to believe. They said they have content planned for 3+ years, not something they have said before, and not something that says we have no planned end it says they have plans for at least 3 years but not indefinitely. Preproduction, production, whatever, my point being this second wave of Sims 4 is when I predict the follow up will be produced. Agree, disagee, do whatever. It’s all guessing for the next 3+ years
