That's interesting.
Perhaps it is when you graft snapdragon and dragonfruit you get a plant that grows these (or maybe not)?
It kind of reminds me money trees in The Sims 3. It didn't grow fruit that could be replanted, but it did spawn a seed near it from time to time. I didn't find any other info about it while googling. Perhaps a SimGuru could provide us a hint or deny it...
There are interactions to pet it and to play with it... It dances when you leave music playing near it...
